GOOD UNIVERSE, a full-service motion picture financing and Production Company, is upping its commitment to being a leading force in international sales and distribution with the expansion of its global sales arm. Industry veteran Helen Lee-Kim has come onboard as partner and president of international to jointly build Good Universe with co-founders Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane. Brent Jack also joins as the head of international marketing and publicity.
Building upon key relationships, Lee-Kim will align the company with third party producers and financiers who are also committed to bringing feature films with broad commercial appeal to the international marketplace. She will also help drive the international group’s evolution into the television business. Jack will continue his decade long partnership with Lee-Kim, developing customized sales launches and supervising international rollouts for all films on the company’s growing slate.
Lee-Kim and Jack have long standing ties with Drake and Kahane following successful runs together at Lionsgate, as well as Mandate Pictures and Senator International. Together they have launched over 70 films which have generated over 4.5 billion dollars in worldwide box office.
Drake and Kahane shared, “Helen is one of a kind. Her smarts, energy and enthusiasm have earned her the top spot in the international business. Lee-Kim joins Good Universe from Lionsgate where she served as president of international overseeing all aspects of the division’s operations during a period of unprecedented growth and record breaking results for the group. During her tenure, she oversaw such films as box office juggernaut The Hunger Games, the Saw franchise, Hope Springs, The Possession, Juno as well as third party titles Kick Ass, Immortals, Limitless in addition to the upcoming Riddick and Silent Hill 2. Prior to joining Lionsgate in 2007, Lee-Kim was Vice President of International Sales at Mandate Pictures. A graduate of Loyola-Marymount School of Film & Television, Lee-Kim joined Mandate in 2004.
Jack joins Good Universe from Lionsgate where he served as executive vice president of international marketing spearheading marketing, publicity and distribution initiatives for the past five years. During that time, Jack oversaw the release of over seventy titles including The Hunger Games, Kick Ass, Drag Me to Hell, Immortals, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, Abduction, Cabin in the Woods, Men Who Stare at Goats and The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. A veteran of entertainment industry, Jack previously held positions at Mandate Pictures, The Hollywood Reporter, Rysher Entertainment and
Sony Pictures Entertainment. Jack received his bachelor’s degree from UCLA and M.B.A. from USC.
