This is the year of women in front and in back of the camera in motion pictures. Greta Gerwig went from actor to director and produced a multi-Academy Award-nominated film, Lady Bird. Rachel Morrison (Mudbound) was the first female cinematographer ever nominated for an Oscar. Actress Heather Graham (Boogie Nights, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Loved Me, Killing Me Softly) has written, starred and directed a new romantic comedy film Half Magic, that opens this Friday, March 9 at The Park Theatre's River Street Theatre (RST) in Jaffrey.
Half Magic is about three women who use their newly formed sisterhood to fight against sexism, bad relationships, and low self-esteem. Through embracing their wild adventures, they learn the secret to ultimate fulfillment. The film co-stars Angela Kinsey (The Office, Haters Back Off!, Slash), Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Modern Family, The Light of the Moon, Pee-Wee's Big Holiday, Short Term 12) and Chris D'Elia (Little Evil, Celeste and Jesse Forever, Whitney).
Variety review of Half Magic, "Heather Graham's Wiccan romantic comedy is one part wish fulfillment, two parts justified fury."
Half Magic plays at the RST Friday and Saturday, March 9 & 10, both at 7pm. There is also a matinee on Saturday and Sunday, March 10 & 11, both at 2pm.

Purchased by The Park Theatre, Inc. in 2006, it will be rebuilt as a state-of-the-art film and performing arts center, featuring two auditoriums seating 485, presenting movies, live theatre, including children's productions, concerts, and lectures as well as offering a place for business and community gatherings for the Monadnock Region and its 100,000 residents, school districts and dynamic artistic community. The new Park Theatre is scheduled to begin construction in 2018.
The Park Theatre currently operates the River Street Theatre (RST), a small live entertainment and cinema venue, located adjacent to the construction site as an interim theatre until the new Park Theatre opens. Opened in January of 2017, the RST holds the title of "smallest theatre in New England."
