Actress and singer Claudia Lee has been cast in the Universal Pictures action film "Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall," based on the second volume of the popular "Kick-Ass" comic book series by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. Production is slated to begin in Toronto in September, before moving to London, under the direction of Jeff Wadlow ("Never Back Down," "Cry Wolf").
In the sequel to the original "Kick-Ass," 16-year-old Lee will play "Brooke," the ringleader of a teenage school posse. It is the first feature role for the actress, who currently costars as the manipulative and sassy teen "Magnolia Breeland" on the CW Television Network series "Hart of Dixie."
"I am so blessed to be part of such a wonderful project," Lee said. "I have always wanted to play a character that would surprise my fans, and Brooke will definitely accomplish that goal."
"Kick-Ass" follows the adventures of "Dave Lizewski" (AaRon Johnson), a comic book-obsessed nerd who creates his own real-life superhero, "Kick-Ass." In addition to Johnson, who will reprise his title role, the sequel will also feature the return of Chloë Moretz as "Hit-Girl," Christopher Mintz-Plasse as "Red Mist" and Nicolas Cage as "Big Daddy." New cast members will include Morris Chestnut ("Boyz n the Hood") and Robert Emms ("War Horse").
"It is very rewarding to join such a talented and accomplished cast," Lee said. "I'm looking forward to sharing the silver screen with them."
Lee is also a country-music singer, her debut album "Here Right Now" was released in February, and has produced three singles: "Hollywood Sunset," "3 Leaf Clover" and "Take My Hand."
Lee is represented by Joanne Horowitz Management, Beverly Strong Management and Paradigm.
"Kick-Ass 2" is reportedly slated for release in June 2013.
