Harrison Ford will reprise his role as the disgruntled bounty hunter Rick Deckard in the upcoming BLADE RUNNER sequel. The film will be penned by Hampton Fancher alongside original co-writer Michael Green. The story takes place several years after the first film, which was set in 2019.
PRISONERS director Denis Villeneuve is in talks of directing the film. Original director Ridley Scott has signed on to executive produce the project.
"We are honored that Harrison is joining us on this journey with Denis Villeneuve, who is a singular talent, as we experienced personally on 'Prisoners'," Alcon Entertainment reps Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson said in a joint statement. "Hampton and Michael, with Ridley Scott, have crafted a uniquely potent and faithful sequel to one of the most universally celebrated films of all time, and we couldn't be more thrilled with this amazing, creative team."
Ford has enjoyed an extensive career, from starring in blockbusters such as STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES to appearing in serious dramas such as THE FUGITIVE. He is expected to appear this spring in the new romantic comedy THE AGE OF ADALINE, and will reprise his role as Han Solo in the upcoming STAR WARS film later this year.
