Hannibal Buress is bringing his swagger and laid back, cerebral comedic style to Comedy Central in a big way. The #1 brand in comedy has signed Buress to a wide-ranging, multiplatform development deal which includes a recurring role on the upcoming scripted series "Broad City," a commitment for a pilot which Buress will executive produce, and a one-hour original stand-up special, all produced by 3 Arts, as well as a major market, nationwide "COMEDY CENTRAL Live" stand-up tour, it was announced today by Kent Alterman, President, Content Development and Original Programming, COMEDY CENTRAL.

"Hannibal Buress has one of the great names in comedy," said Alterman. "I pray he doesn't change it."

"This is really exciting," said Buress. "I can finally quit my day job at Quiznos. People talk down about the Illuminati a lot but this is proof that membership has its benefits."

Described as "the funniest young comic I've seen in years" by Chris Rock, Buress has been lauded by Entertainment Weekly, Esquire and The New York Times and earlier this year was featured as one of Rolling Stone's "50 Funniest People Now." In addition, he was awarded Best Club Comic at the 2012 "Comedy Awards" and named to Variety's "10 Comics to Watch" list in 2010.

A former staff writer for both "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock," on which he also appeared, Buress currently appears as a regular "expert" on FX's "Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell" and is the co-host of "The ERIC ANDRE Show" on Adult Swim. He has also appeared on FX's "Louie" and numerous

COMEDY CENTRAL series including "John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show," "Kroll Show" "Mash Up" and "The Burn with Jeff Ross," as well as last year's biennial "Night of Too Many Stars," and has performed on "Late Show with David Letterman," "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" He is currently preparing to launch "Talking to Strangers with Hannibal Buress," a weekly web series showcasing conversations between the award-winning comic and top musicians and entertainers.

Buress starred in his first original hour-long stand-up special, "Hannibal Buress: Animal Furnace," which premiered on Comedy Central in May 2012 and was also released on DVD by Comedy Central Home Entertainment. The extended and uncensored CD of "Animal Furnace" was released by Comedy Central Records and was named one of the Best Comedy Albums of 2012 by Entertainment Weekly. He has also performed at the South Beach Comedy Festival and headlined "COMEDY CENTRAL Live Presents: Hannibal Buress," a free, live outdoor show in Brooklyn, NY last summer. Buress continues to tour and hosts a weekly stand-up show every Sunday night at the Knitting Factory in Williamsburg.

Buress is repped by WME, 3 Arts and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush & Kaller.
