Hank Azaria Joins Cast of HBO Bernie Madoff Biopic WIZARD OF LIES

Variety reports that Hank Azaria has signed on to HBO's upcoming Bernie Madoff movie, WIZARD OF LIES. Azaria joins previously announced cast members Robert DeNiro (Bernie Madoff), Michelle Pfeiffer (Ruth Madoff) and Alessandro Nivola (Mark Madoff).

"The Simpsons" star will portray Frank Dipascali, known as "Bernie's right-hand man in the Ponzi scheme." Dipascali often described himself as "director of options trading" and "chief financial officer" for Madoff Investment Securities LLC. His office was located on the mysterious 17th floor, where much of scheme was put into action. Following his arrest, he pled guilty but passed away in May 2015 before his sentencing was announced.

Directed by Barry Levinson, the film "will be a look behind the scenes at Bernie Madoff's massive Ponzi scheme, how it was perpetrated on the public and the trail of destruction it left in its wake, both for the victims and Madoff's family."

WIZARD OF LIES is based on Diana Henriques' 2012 book of the same name, along with additional source material from Laurie Sandell's "Truth and Consequences."
