After a controversial series finale this spring, it's no secret that some fans of the CBS comedy 'How I Met Your Mother' were left a bit unsatfisfied. But co-creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays remain hard at work on a new spin-off of the show in an attempt to keep the franchise alive, according to TV Line.
Though the pilot of the spin-off titled 'How I Met Your Dad' was rejected by CBS and various other networks, the show is still being developed over at 20th TV. However, Carter Bays expressed an interest to take a break from the project and re-work the series via Twitter.
"Maybe in the future it could be something", Bays tweeted on July 11th. "but I think we need to try something new before we go back to it."
'How I Met Your Dad' featured Greta Gerwig as the series' focus, and was narrated by rom-com legend Meg Ryan. If the project is revisited, it is unclear whether or not the cast would remain the same, as their contracts expired in late June.
If all goes well, the spin-off could possibly drop as early as the 2015-2016 television season.
