With the U.S. housing market showing improvement, HGTV is bolstering its real estate programming line-up with a new series focused on how buyers can maximize their budgets and secure the best possible deal on a home. Premiering Tuesday, July 23 at 9 p.m. ET., Power Broker follows real estate agent Mike Aubrey, one of the best negotiators in the business, as he works to save clients cash by driving a hard bargain, navigating the real estate market, and landing buyers a new home they never thought they could afford.
"In today's housing market, there are some amazing deals," said Aubrey, who is ranked in the U.S. commission's Top 10 for Re/Max and No. 29 in the world. "I'm here to help clients realize that with a little digging, planning and smart negotiation, their ideal home is within reach."
In the season premiere of Power Broker, Aubrey, who previously provided expertise in
House Hunters and Real Estate Intervention, tours several San Francisco fixer-uppers, foreclosures and short-sales with his newlywed clients and shows them the best buying strategies to get a great deal, while Juan Barbieri - Season 5 star of
The Bachelorette - develops a fresh design and floor plan for the newly purchased home with a limited budget. With the money saved by purchasing a place that needs some love, these first-time homeowners can turn their fixer-upper into a dream home.
"Power Broker will appeal to anyone who enjoys the gritty, behind-the-scenes drama associated with real estate negotiation strategy, particularly the play-by-play of building a good deal," said Kathleen Finch, general manager of
HGTV and sister property DIY Network. "Mike is a commanding, knowledgeable expert who has pre-established credibility with
HGTV viewers, so we know they will be excited to see him in this new series."
Power Broker airs new episodes on
HGTV every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET. More information is available on HGTV's companion website at HGTV.com.
