In an interview published in this week's New York Times, MAD MEN star Elisabeth Moss talks about starring in Broadway's The Heidi Chronicles, which began preview performances on February 23, 2015, with an official opening on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).
The 32-year-old actress, who makes her return to Broadway in the role of art historian Heidi Holland, shared that it is the highly emotional aspect of the Tony and Pulitzer award-winning play that she enjoys most. "I'm never happier than when I'm crying onstage," she says. "It's super weird, and it's what I love to do. Isn't that strange?"
Moss began acting at the age of 6, and was always a fan of theater, even as a child. She cites a performance of "The Heiress," starring Cherry Jones, which she saw in her early teens, as her inspiration to become an actor. "Once the lights go up, it's on you," she explains. "It's a huge amount of responsibility, that's the frightening part of it." And the "exciting and thrilling" part, too.
