According to TVNewser.com, HBO has announced that Aaron Sorkin's upcoming series about a Cable News station will be called NEWSROOM. Sorkin, best known for creating the NBC hit drama 'The West Wing', has written the series which centers around a fictional cable news station called 'UBS'.
While still being developed, the project had been given the name "More As This Story Develops". In the show, the fictionalized cable news station will be in competition with real-life cable networks such as CNN, MSNBC and Fox News. According to the report, the series may actually mention the names of real figures in cable news, such as Dan Rather and CNN Worldwide president Jim Walton.
In the series pilot, the station is forced to find a new executive producer after its former one jumps ship to the new 10 pm program. The plot follows a very similar real life situation in which Keith Olbermann, host of 'Countdown' lost his executive producer to a news program hosted by Lawrence O'Donnell, 'Countdown's' frequent subsitute host.
