The HBO production BANKSY DOES NEW YORK will debut on the network Nov. 17, it was announced today by Sheila Nevins, president, HBO Documentary Films.

Directed by New York filmmaker Chris Moukarbel (HBO's "Me @The Zoo"; "Sex//Now"), BANKSY DOES NEW YORK is an exhilarating survey and detailed documentation of self-proclaimed artist in residence Banksy's city-wide month-long art exhibit, which took over the streets of New York in Oct. 2013, creating a wild and woolly experience for New Yorkers.

"From The Moment Banksy took over the streets, New Yorkers became obsessed. The film captures this month of madness created by user-generated footage," says Nevins.

Explains Moukarbel, "I crowd-sourced footage that New Yorkers posted online each day of the month. It was about a city holding a mirror back up to the artist."

Every day, over the course of a month, Banksy and his team took to the streets, secretly creating a variety of public works ranging from elaborate conceptual stunts to traditional graffiti art. From Williamsburg and Staten Island to Bushwick and the Lower East Side, each new piece was announced daily on the artist's #BANKSYNY Instagram account and chronicled on his pop-up website.

BANKSY DOES NEW YORK is directed by Chris Moukarbel; produced by Jack Turner; produced in association with Matador Content. For HBO: senior producer, Sara Bernstein; executive producer, Sheila Nevins.
