HBO has ordered a new comedy series from TV veteran Lorne Michaels, who is best known for creating and producing Saturday Night Live. The show, titled BROTHERS IN ATLANTA, will star SNL'S Maya Rudolph, Diallo Riddle, Bashir Salahuddin, and Jaden Smith.
BROTHERS IN ATLANTA centers around struggling entertainers living in Atlanta. Riddle plays Langston, an aspiring DJ always on a quest to get rich quick; Salahuddin plays Moose, a backup singer desperete to reach the spotlight; Rudolph is Shirlie, Moose's boss who was once an R&B star herself; and Smith portays Curtis, Langston's rowdy teenage neighbor.
Riddle and Salahuddin will write and executive produce the show, along with Andrew Singer of Broadway Video and Michaels. Tim Story (RIDE ALONG) directed the pilot.
BROTHERS IN ATLANTA will be the second scripted show Michaels is currently producing; he is also working on FXX'S MAN SEEKING WOMAN. He is previously produced 30 ROCK, PORTLANDIA, MULANEY, and THE LATE SERIES.
