A new post-apocalyptic series is coming to HBO.
According to reports, the premium cable network has given a 10-episode series order to the drama pilot, co-written by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta, and based on Perrotta's book of the same title, which follows The Rapture, which happens not quite like it's supposed to. This is the story of the people who didn't make the cut ... and a world that will never be the same.
The series stars Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Liv Tyler, Emily Meade, Jake Robinson, Tony nominee Carrie Coon, Doctor Who's Christopher Eccleston, Ann Down and Amanda Warren.
Theroux plays Kevin Garvey, a police chief and father of two, and Brenneman will play Laurie Garvey, who has left her husband and children to join a mysterious cult. Tyler is set to play Meg, a woman drawn to a cult while looking for an escape from her impending marriage. Coon will play Nora, a wife and mother who is suddenly neither. Boardwalk Empire's Meade plays Amy, a high school student, and The Carrie Diaries' Jake Robinson is set for a recurring role as a popular high schooler.
This will be Brenneman's first project since Private Practice's finale last winter, and Tyler's first television appearance.
