Today, HBO Europe launched its newest direct to consumer streaming service, HBO Portugal, bringing all seasons of HBO's award-winning programming to Portuguese audiences. In addition to HBO originals, HBO Portugal viewers will have access to series, films, documentaries and family content from other content providers.
Launching today on HBOPortugal.com, the subscription video on demand service will provide premium content directly to consumers. The service is accessible through a wide range of smartphones, tablets and devices including PCs, LG TV, Playstation 4, Android TV, Chromecast and Apple TV. Vodafone Portugal is the exclusive operator partner for local distribution, giving Vodafone Portugal customers access to the streaming service via TV Vodafone.
HBO Portugal enables subscribers to enjoy over 4,500 episodes of popular HBO series, including every season of critically-acclaimed originals such as Game of Thrones, True Detective, Westworld and Big Little Lies. The service also includes HBO classics such as Sex and the City, The Sopranos, The Wire and Girls. The service will feature a wide variety of series, movies, documentaries and family content from other content providers including Showtime, Sundance, SyFy, CW, AMC, DreamWorks and Turner. HBO Portugal will also include a broad range of new titles premiering simultaneously with the U.S.
With a one-month free trial for all new subscribers, HBO Portugal has a monthly cost of €4.99, allowing subscribers to register 5 different devices with their subscription and watch two simultaneous streams of dubbed and subtitled content at the same time from the same account.
On Tuesday February 12th, HBO Portugal will host a press conference in Lisbon, where further details on the service will be announced. Hervé Payan - CEO HBO Europe, Mário Vaz - CEO Vodafone Portugal, Stephen Dorff - Actor (True Detective) and Rodrigo Santoro - Actor (Westworld) will all be present at the conference.
