HARRY POTTER & West End Actor Leslie Phillips Dies at 98

Phillips died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that actor Leslie Phillips has died at the age of 98.

Phillips is well known as the voice of the Sorting Hat in the Harry Potter films. He was also seen in four of the 31 Carry On films.

BBC reports that Phillips died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday. He is survived by his wife, Zara.

Phillips was first seen on stage in 1937 as a wolf in a London Palladium production of Peter Pan. He was later seen as Tony in the popular West End comedy For Better For Worse. He was also seen in The Merry Wives of Windsor in Stratford.

Early on in WWII, Phillips performed in the West End in the early years of WWII. He had stated that the performances were frequently interrupted due to air-raid sirens.

Throughout the span of his 80 year career, Phillips starred in over 200 films, television programs, and radio shows.
