The Hispanic Association of Corporate Responsibility (HACR) presented Telemundo News´ anchor and host, María Celeste Arrarás, with a lifetime achievement award to commemorate her 30 years in television and her contributions for the advancement of the Hispanic community in the U.S. The award ceremony took place in the United States Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., in the context of the 24th HACR Symposium and coincided with the 30th anniversary of the organization. The event was hosted by HACR´s President and CEO, Cid Wilson, the board of directors of HACR representing 16 Hispanic national nonprofit organizations, and former Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutiérrez acted as keynote speaker.
María Celeste Arrarás, an Emmy Award-winning journalist and investigative reporter, is one of the most popular Spanish-language television news personalities. She co-anchors the daily newscast "Noticiero Telemundo" and hosts "Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste," the most talked about newsmagazine in Hispanic television. She has been a guest host for NBC's "Today" show and has collaborated with "Dateline" and "NBC Nightly News." Maria Celeste has been featured on the cover of People en Español more than 14 times and was selected by Newsweek magazine to appear on the cover of its "20 Most Powerful Women of the Next Generation" issue of 2009. She has been featured in numerous articles on a wide range of publications, including the The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Washington Post, and The Miami Herald. People en Español recognized her as the best news anchor of 2012 in its end of year issue.
Maria Celeste began her broadcasting career as a reporter in her native Puerto Rico with local station Canal 24 (Channel 24) in 1986. She was subsequently hired by Telemundo's station in New York and in 1994 became a national host of Univision's news magazine "Primer Impacto". In 2002, Arrarás moved to the Telemundo network to her current role.
