Grab a slushie and wear your McKinley colors with pride, Gleeks! Glee is back and bigger than ever! Bored with her current routines, Sue decides to spice it up by launching Brittany from a cannon. However, once Principal Figgins finds out, Sue goes berserk and goes on the war path - her targets being the usual Glee Club, and now the football team. The animosity between the McKinley Titans and The New Directions reaches a boiling point, thus forcing Coach Bieste and Mr. Schuester to force their teams to work together for a week. Rachel and Puck perform Lady Antbellum's"Need You Now" to show the Titans how New Directions works, with less than stellar results. After Sue, still on the war path gets the Regional Cheerleading competition switched to the same day as the Championship Football game, thus spelling disaster for New Directions and The Titians. However, Coach Bieste and Mr. Schuester form a plan around the idea of performing Michael Jackson's Thriller mashed with The Yeah, Yeah's "Heads Will Roll".

The Football Team members slowly begin to accept aspects of the Glee Club experience, even Kraofsky, who Mr. Schuester compliments on his talents onstage.  Kraofsky, wanting to make the experience the best it can be, asks Finn if they can do a practice number to help them with the challenge of the mash-up. Brittany, Santana, and Quinn are confronted by Sue with the ultimatum: stay in the Cheerios or quit and stick with Glee Club. After all three choose to leave the group, Finn confronts Quinn about quitting, only start an argument with Sam, who comes to defend his girlfriend. When the Football Team and Glee boys perform a warm-up number, everything seems going well - until the Hockey Team slushies the Football Team, causing them all to quit the team.

After rehearsing Destiny's Child's "Bills, Bills, Bills" Blaine and Kurt meet up with Mercedes and Rachel for a coffee date, Blaine informs the girls that the football team would only truly need four people to cover the lost spots.  Rachel, Mercedes, Tina, and Lauren all step up to cover the lost bodies on the football team, which doesn't go well when it comes to game time. When Tina gets tackled, Finn sends Puck to get the football players to perform at half-time, thus letting them play the second half- and successfully gets all of them, except Kraofsky on board. Meanwhile, Finn goes and convinces Quinn, Brittany, and Santana to ditch the Cheerios for Glee, which proves successful.

As Thriller/Heads Will Roll begins, Kraofsky has a change of heart and joins in on the thrilling performance. Once on the field again - the teams come together- winning the game with seconds to spare.

After losing what could have been a seventh consecutive cheerleading title, Sue is interviewed by Katie Couric, who adds insult to injury by having also interviewed Will and revealing the cheerleading budget has been cut to add money to the Glee budget.

Finn attempts to get Kraofsky to apologize to Kurt and join Glee, but Kraofsky once again refuses to enact change within McKinley. Quinn, grateful for Finn convincing her to rejoin Glee for the performance, kisses him and reminds him that such an action is why she fell in love with him to begin with.
