It's as if we've entered another "dreamworld of magic" to cure any summer snack attack. Ben & Jerry's proudly unveils not one, but two Saturday Night Live sketch-Inspired flavors: Lazy Sunday and Gilly's Catastrophic Crunch. These first two in a line of four SNL flavors were carefully crafted with specific SNL sketches as inspiration. Gilly's Catastrophic Crunch is a combination of chocolate & sweet cream ice creams, with caramel clusters, fudge-covered almonds & a marshmallow swirl as frantic and mischievous as the flavor's namesake.
The Lazy Sunday sketch, which features a sincere love of cupcakes, was enough to lead Ben & Jerry's Flavor Gurus to a vanilla cake batter ice cream base with chocolate and yellow cupcake pieces & a chocolate frosting swirl for the latest crazy concoction. "Our fans have a great sense of humor and we share their affinity for the comic genius of Saturday Night Live," said Lisa Sholk, Ben & Jerry's Marketing Manager. "We loved The Challenge of creating ice cream personalities for those iconic sketches."
The flavors will be available exclusively at Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops across the U.S. and Canada. Following the crazy classroom antics of Gilly, and the chronic-loving Sunday afternoon themed flavors, the company plans to unveil two more SNL sketch-based flavors later this year to continue the year-long celebration of SNL's 40th anniversary.
