JONATHAN will be released February 7th, 2017 in the U.S. and Canada via Wolfe Video on DVD & VOD and across all digital platforms including iTunes, Vimeo On Demand, and WolfeOnDemand.com and many major retailers. Visually accomplished, and set amidst a sumptuous German landscape, director/writer Piotr J. Lewandowski has created a homoerotic and emotionally charged story about romantic love and generational conflict for a young man on the brink of adulthood who is struggling to accept his family's troubled past. After premiering at the Berlin Film Festival in 2016, JONATHAN has garnered numerous awards at festivals, and features complex, eloquent performances from the cast including standouts from Jannis Niewöhner as Jonathan and André Hennicke (Victoria, Youth Without Youth) as his secretive, ailing father.

Jonathan, 23, works on a family farm, and also devotes himself to looking after his father Burghardt, who is struggling with a terminal illness. Jonathan finds it increasingly difficult to cope until they hire a young caretaker, Anka, to help - and Jonathan and Anka begin to fall in love. But then Burghardt's long-lost boyhood friend Ron appears, and Jonathan discovers that many years ago, his father and Ron were deeply in love. All at once, the façade of cherished family beliefs crumbles and long-repressed secrets come to light. Can Jonathan forgive his father, and can THE FAMILY heal deep rifts together to find redemption and forgiveness?
