The CW Network announced today that the second annual WORLD DOG AWARDS, hosted by George Lopez, will return in January 2016, honoring man's best friend in a celebration with some of the most famous four-legged stars and the humans who love them. An airdate and time will be announced at a later date.
The WORLD DOG AWARDS honor some of the most talented and laudable pups on the planet, from furry film stars to social media darlings. Awards will include A List Dog, for the celebrity dog who made the biggest impact in media, Top TV Dog, Most Pawpular, awarded to the most famous dogs in social media, and Dog of the Year. Special recognition will also be given to service dogs,
ANIMAL shelters around the country, and celebrity advocates. Viewers will also have a chance to submit their own nominees on cwtv.com for their favorite cute canine

Last year's WORLD DOG AWARDS winners ranged from viral sensations like Hank T. Dog, the unofficial adopted mascot of the Milwaukee Brewers, who won Dog of the Year, and TV star dogs like "Modern Family" celebrity dog "Stella," to everyday dogs that made a positive impact in their communities.
THE VAMPIRE DIARIES star Ian Somerhalder was the recipient of the ASPCA Dog's Best Friend Award at the inaugural event in 2015.
George Lopez is a multi-talented entertainer whose career encompasses television, film, standup comedy and late-night television. For two seasons, Lopez hosted Lopez Tonight, a late-night television talk show on TBS, Television's groundbreaking hit sitcom George Lopez, which ran for six seasons. Lopez has risen to become one of the premier comedic talents in the entertainment industry and known for his extensive charity work with various foundations. He can currently be seen on his nationwide comedy tour - Black and Brown Comedy Get Down.
