George Clooney is ready to return to the small screen! The star will act and direct in the new limited series CATCH 22 for the Paramount Network, as reported by Deadline. The limited series, based on a Joseph Heller novel, will be split into 6 parts.
The series takes place in Italy during World War II and follows the character Yossarian. He is a US Air Force bombardier who is angry that people he has never met before are trying to kill him. His team keeps increasing their missions against the enemy to Yossarian's disapproval. If he attempts to avoid his missions, he will violate "Catch-22" which is described as follows: "a hilariously sinister bureaucratic rule which specifies that a concern for one's own safety in the face of dangers that are real and immediate is the process of a rational mind; a man is considered insane if he willingly continues to fly dangerous combat missions, but a request to be removed from duty is evidence of sanity and therefore makes him ineligible to be relieved from duty."
Clooney will take on the role of Colonel Cathcart.
Clooney will direct, along with Grant Heslov. Richard Brown and Steve Golin will serve as executive producers, along with Clooney and Heslov.
The series will begin production in early 2018.
