Gabriel Ellis, known for gritty portrayals of tough young men from the wrong side of the tracks, is joining Starz's acclaimed crime drama "Power" as a series regular. He will make his debut in the July 8 episode of the show, which airs Sundays at 8 p.m. Eastern/Pacific.

"I am thrilled to join 'Power' and its talented cast of performers and creative team," Ellis said. "I'm especially glad to work with 50 Cent, who has been extremely supportive and encouraging ever since we first worked together years ago. I'm a big fan of 'Power' and its amazing cast and I hope to make a solid contribution to the show."

Ellis will portray Gabriel, a recurring character this season, then joining the show as a series regular for the 2019 season.

The New Jersey-born actor has gained much attention for his work in such shows as NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Chicago P.D." and "Up North," as well as the films "Over/Under," "Da Brick," and "Before I Self Destruct," among others.

Having grown up in with four brothers and sisters in a family struggling to make ends meet, Ellis found himself attracted to acting and performing. Even as his family dealt with occasional homelessness and hunger at times, he found his calling when he began acting in school plays while working odd jobs to help his family.

Eventually, the young actor found himself on set with 50 Cent in the film "Before I Self Destruct." He would go on to make big debut for the role of a ruthless assassin, Gustav Munoz, on Dick Wolf's "Chicago P.D." before moving on to Dick Wolf's iconic procedural drama series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."

"Power" is among Starz's most watched TV series, averaging 7.4 million viewers on multiple platforms during its four-season run.

Courtney A. Kemp is the creator, showrunner and executive producer of "Power." Jackson also serves as executive producer alongwith Mark Canton, Randall Emmett, and Gary Lennon.

Gabriel Ellis is represented by Jason Marshall of the Character's Talent Agency, Next Level Entertainment, as well as Decayette Talent Agency.
