GOLDEN STATE KILLER: IT'S NOT OVER Docu-Series To Premiere on Investigation Discovery

After a series of more than 170 combined incidences of burglary, rape and murder from 1974 to 1986, California's most sought-after serial killer garnered several titles: The East Area Rapist, The Original Night Stalker and-most notably-The Golden State Killer. With a serial killer case spanning a decade, one person can't solve it alone; which is why Investigation Discovery (ID) calls upon forensic expert Paul Holes to join former law enforcement, citizen sleuths, civil district attorneys and victims themselves to expose the aging killer before he dies. In a two-night special event premieringMonday March 5 at 9/8c on ID, THE GOLDEN STATE KILLER: IT'S NOT OVER explores evidence through a new lens with increased DNA technology, audio recording analysis and geographic profiling.

Building upon the Sacramento FBI's 2016 national campaign for new leads and Michelle McNamara's upcoming Golden State Killer novel, I'll Be Gone in the Dark, ID packs forty years' worth of evidence into a four-part special in the hopes that both fresh and veteran eyes will get a new 360-degree view of the complicated case. Interviewees featured in this series include Carol Daly, an original Sacramento County investigator of the Golden State Killer; Jane Carson-Sandler, a SURVIVOR of the fifth known attack; Debbi Domingo, a teenager at the time of her mother's murder with a continued commitment to working with law enforcement to find the killer; and Keith Komos, a citizen sleuth with no personal connection to the case but a resourcefulness and a sense of urgency needed to find a resolution.

All I Knew was Fear

He's the most prolific yet unknown serial predator in California's history. Traveling back in time to 1970s era Sacramento, investigators (retired and current) detail the facts of the Golden State Killer case. Unorthodox investigators in the forms of citizen sleuths, and those personally affected such as Debbi Domingo, whose mother was murdered, and Jane Carson-Sandler, the fifth victim, offer insight into the unique procedure of the attacks. As the story unfolds, a chilling question arises: was the Golden State Killer hiding in plain sight all those years ago? Forensic export, Paul Holes examines what this would mean regarding the killer's whereabouts today.

Do You Want to Die?

Even though the Golden State Killer left his DNA in multiple crime scene locations, detectives need a name to match the profile. Cold case investigator, Paul Holes, digs deep to understand where the Golden State Killer likely lived and what he likely did for work. This crucial information known as geographic profiling could determine the predator's current whereabouts. Meanwhile, utilizing updated audio technologies, citizen sleuths analyze one of the few phone calls left by the perpetrator before his first murder.

The Horror of What Happened There

The Golden State Killer is still a threat. He has reached out to victims before and could do it again today. Taking a trip through Southern California, Paul Holes further verifies his theory about the Golden State Killer and studies the attacks made on residents in the idyllic town of Santa Barbara. While they are similar, something about the attacks is different. Could a sloppy killer offer new clues?

Somebody Out There Knows

Premieres Tuesday, March 6 at 10/9c

In this episode, we continue following the Golden State Killer's trail of blood, through Orange County and back up to Santa Barbara. We meet family members of the victims, who are still devastated all these years later, and desperately want this murderer to pay. We learn about the surprising theory that the Golden State Killer got his start much earlier than originally thought. What does this mean for the current investigation? Also, we delve deeper into DNA and how it can provide answers even if investigators don't have a name to match to a profile.
