GMA Wins the 2012-13 Television Season in Viewers and Key Demo

"GMA" stood as the No. 1 morning news program of the 2012-13 television season in both Total Viewers (5.300 million) and Adults 25-54 (1.970 million), according to Nielsen Media Research. "GMA" won the season for the first time in 19 years in Total Viewers and in 20 years in Adults 25-54 - since the 1993-94 and the 1992-93 seasons, respectively.

Growing for the 3rd straight year (+9% - 4.870 million for the 2011-12 season), "GMA" won the 2012-13 season with its largest overall audience and its largest season margin (+688,000) over the No. 2-ranked "Today Show" (4.612 million) both in more than 21 years - since before the 1991-92 season, respectively; Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991.

Further, "GMA" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers in all 51* weeks of the season, claiming the No. 1 telecast each week. Overall, "GMA" has ranked No. 1 every week in Total Viewers for more than 1 year (the last 57 weeks - since w/o 8/13/12). "GMA's" 57 consecutive weeks at the top stand as its longest stretch at No. 1 in more than 21 years - since before the 1991-92 season; Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991.

In Adults 25-54, "GMA" also increased for the 3rd year in a row (+4% - 1.897 million for 2011-12 season) to delivered its strongest news demo performance in 5 seasons and beat "Today" (1.884 million) by its biggest news demo gap (+86,000) in 21 years - since the 2007-08 and the 1991-92 seasons, respectively. In addition, "GMA" grew the most from the previous season in the key adult news demo compared NBC's "Today" (-15%) and CBS' "This Morning" (+2%).

Overall, "GMA" turned in its highest number of No. 1 finishes during a television season in both Total Viewers (51 of 51 weeks) and Adults 25-54 (43 of 51 weeks) in more than 21 years- since before the 1991-92 season.

3Q 2013:

"Good Morning America" won the 3rd Quarter 2013, ranking as the No. 1 morning newscast in both Total Viewers (5.221 million) and Adults 25-54 (1.887 million), according to Nielsen Media Research. Notably, "GMA" won all 4 quarters of the 2012-13 TV season, representing the first time to accomplish the feat in 19 years in Total Viewers and in more than 21 years in Adults 25-54 - since the 1993-94 and before the 1991-92 seasons, respectively; Nielsen's electronic database started in September 1991.

Ranking No. 1 in all 12 weeks of 3Q12 in Total Viewers and in 11 of 12 weeks in Adults 25-54, "GMA" led NBC's "Today Show" (4.445 million and 1.783 million) by its largest 3rd quarter margins (+776,000 and +104,000, respectively) in more than 21 years - since before the 1991-92 season. Further, "GMA" beat "Today" by its largest demo margin during any quarter in more than 19 years - since 2Q94.

For the 3rd consecutive year, "GMA" built on the year-ago 3rd quarter in both Total Viewers (+10%) and Adults 25-54 (+6%) - 4.757 million and 1.772 million, respectively, for 3Q12. In fact, "GMA" saw its most-watched 3rd quarter in more than 21 years and strongest news demo performance during a 3rd quarter in 7 years - since before 3Q92 and 3Q06, respectively.

"GMA" nearly doubled the performance of "CBS This Morning" during 3Q13 in Total Viewers (+93%), while more than doubling in Adults 25-54 (+108%). In fact, "GMA" scored its largest 3rd quarter advantage (+2.511 million) over CBS' morning program in more than 21 years and largest 3rd quarter lead in Adults 25-54 (+980,000) in 7 years - since before 3Q92 and 3Q06, respectively.

Week of September 16, 2013:

ABC News' "Good Morning America" stood as the No. 1 morning program in Total Viewers (5.781 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.088 million), for the week of September 16, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research. "GMA" defeated NBC's "Today" (4.745 million and 2.035 million, respectively) by +1.036 million Total Viewers and by +53,000 Adults 25-54. Additionally, GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo! reached 21 million users last month. It is the No. 1 morning news website and beats Today.com by millions of users each month

"GMA" increased its Total Viewer lead over the No. 2-ranked "Today Show" by +17% compared to its year-ago lead (+884,000 on w/o 9/17/12). In addition, "GMA" capped off the final week of the season with its largest Total Viewer advantage (1.036 million) over "Today" in 7 months - since w/o 2/18/13. This represents the 3rd time during the 2012-13 season that "GMA" led "Today" by more than 1.0 million viewers during a season, its most number in more than 21 years - since before the 1991-92 season.

On Monday (9/16/13), "GMA" posted its strongest telecast in both Total Viewers (6.150 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.199 million) in more nearly 4 months - since 5/22/13. In addition, in overall viewers, "GMA" topped "Today" head-to-head by +1.352 million on Monday, +1.205 million Tuesday and by +1.223 million on Wednesday, representing the first time in more than 19 years that "GMA" outdrew "Today" by more than 1.0 million viewers 3 times during the course of a week - since w/o 5/16/94.

"GMA" improved week to week (5.546 million, 2.019 million and 1.381 million on w/o 9/9/13) in Total Viewers (+4%), Adults 25-54 (+3%) and Adults 18-49 (+9%), finishing the 2012-13 season with its strongest performance in all 3 measures since May (w/o 5/6/13, w/o 5/20/13 and w/o 5/13/13, respectively).

"GMA" also built on the year-ago week across all key demos: Total Viewers (+16%), Adults 25-54 (+9%) and Adults 18-49 (+3%) - 4.969 million, 1.913 million and 1.458 million, respectively, on w/o 9/17/12. "GMA" grew its overall audience from the same week last year in 50 of 51 weeks this season.*

For the week, "GMA" more than doubled the performance of "CBS This Morning" in Total Viewers (+101%), Adults 25-54 (+114%) and Adults 18-49 (+118%).
