GMA Tops NBC's “Today” by 896,000 Total Viewers

ABC News' "Good Morning America" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (5.603 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.086 million) for the week of October 21, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research. Winning all 5 weeks of the season, "GMA" led NBC's "Today" (4.707 million and 2.008 million, respectively) during the week by 896,000 Total Viewers and by 78,000 Adults 25-54, beating "Today" by its widest overall viewer advantage of the season. "GMA" increased its Total Viewer lead over the No. 2-ranked "Today Show" from its year-ago week lead by 70% (528,000 on w/o 10/22/12). Additionally, GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo! reached 22 million users last month. It is the No. 1 morning news website and beats Today.com by millions of users each month.

"GMA" has ranked No. 1 every week in Total Viewers for more than 15 months (the last 62 weeks - since w/o 8/13/12). "GMA's" 62 consecutive weeks at the top stand as its longest stretch at No. 1 in more than 22 years - since before the 1991-92 season; Nielsen's electronic database started in September 1991.

In Adults 25-54, "GMA" has ranked No. 1 for the last 15 weeks, its longest news demo winning streak in more than 20 years - since w/o 3/22/93 to w/o 6/28/93 during the 1992-93 season.

"GMA" turned in week-to-week increases (5.344 million, 1.980 million and 1.397 million on w/o 10/14/13) in Total Viewers (+5%), Adults 25-54 (+5%) and Adults 18-49 (+3%). In addition, "GMA" was up the most over the previous week in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54, while standing as the only morning program to grow in Adults 18-49 Versus "CBS This Morning" (+3%/-5%/-8%, respectively) and "Today" (+1%/+2%/flat, respectively).

"GMA" improved on its year-ago performance in Total Viewers (+14%) and Adults 25-54 (+8%) - 4.930 million and 1.939 million, respectively, on w/o 10/22/12. Furthermore, "GMA" posted year-to-year increases in all 5 weeks of the season in overall viewers and in 4 of 5 weeks in Adults 25-54.

Season to date, "GMA" stands as the No. 1 morning news program for the 2nd straight year in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. "GMA" is leading NBC's "Today" by 765,000 Total Viewers and 56,000 Adults 25-54. In fact, "GMA" has widened its Total Viewer season lead over "Today" Versus the same point last season by 30% (765,000 vs. 590,000) to post its largest season margin in more than 22 years - since at least the 1991-92 season; Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991.

Growing for the 3rd year in a row, "GMA" is up over the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+12%) and Adults 25-54 (+6%). In fact, "GMA" is seeing its largest overall season audience in more than 22 years and best Adults 25-54 performance in 6 years - since before the 1991-92 season and the 2007-08 seasons, respectively.

During the week, "GMA" nearly doubled the performance of "CBS This Morning" in Total Viewers (+85%), while more than doubling in Adults 25-54 (+111%) and Adults 18-49 (+108%).
