ABC News' "Good Morning America" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (6.154 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.450 million) for the week of January 27, 2014, according to Nielsen Media Research. With its 2nd-best numbers of the season, "GMA" defeated NBC's "Today" (5.512 million and 2.259 million, respectively) during the week by 642,000 million Total Viewers and by 191,000 Adults 25-54. "GMA" widened its Total Viewer lead over NBC's "Today" versus its year-ago advantage by 6% (+605,000 on w/o 1/28/13). Additionally, GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo! reached almost 20 million users last month.
"GMA" has ranked No. 1 every week in Total Viewers for more than 18 months (the last 76 weeks - since w/o 8/13/12). "GMA's" 76-consecutive weeks at the top represent its longest stretch at No. 1 in more than 22 years - since before the 1991-92 season; Nielsen's electronic database started in September 1991. Among Adults 25-54, "GMA" has ranked No. 1 in 18 of the 19 weeks of the season.
"GMA" grew its Total Viewer audience for the 2nd straight week (+2% - 6.056 million on w/o 1/20/14) to deliver its most-watched week since November - since w/o 11/28/13. In fact, GMA turned in its 2nd-most-watched week in more than 22 years - since at least September 1991; Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991. Additionally, "GMA" held nearly all of the previous week's Adults 25-54 audience (2.450 million vs. 2.452 million on w/o 1/20/14) to deliver its 2nd-best Adults 25-54 performance in nearly 8 years - since w/o 3/13/06.
For the 5th week running, "GMA" built on the year-ago week (5.513 million, 2.090 million and 1.495 million, respectively, on w/o 1/28/13) across all key target demos: Total Viewers (+12%), Adults 25-54 (+17%) and Adults 18-49 (+13%). In addition, "GMA" was up the most in Adults 25-54 from the same week last year (+17%; +360,000) compared to "CBS This Morning" (+11%; +124,000) and NBC's "Today" (+8%; +166,000). In fact, "GMA's" year-to-year Adults 25-54 increase (+360,000) beat the combined year-to-year news demo increase (+290,000) of both
CBS (+124,000) and
NBC (+166,000) by 24%.
Season to date, "GMA" stands as the No. 1 morning news program for the 2nd-straight year in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. "GMA" is leading NBC's "Today" by 737,000 Total Viewers and 111,000 Adults 25-54. In fact, "GMA" has widened its season margins over "Today" versus the same point last season in Total Viewers by 42% (737,000 vs. 518,000) and in Adults 25-54 by 68% (111,000 vs. 66,000). Further, "GMA" is posting its largest Total Viewer season margin in more than 22 years and biggest in Adults 25-54 in 22 years- since at least the 1991-92 season (Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991) and the 1991-92 season, respectively.
Growing for the 3rd year in a row, "GMA" is up by double-digits over the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+12%) and Adults 25-54 (+13%). In fact, "GMA" is seeing its largest overall season audience in more than 22 years and best Adults 25-54 performance in 8 years - since before the 1991-92 season and the 2005-06 seasons, respectively. Further, "GMA" is up the most in Adults 25-54 compared to "CBS This Morning" (+4%) and NBC's "Today" (+11%)
During the week, "GMA" nearly doubled the performance of "CBS This Morning" in Total Viewers (+80%) and Adults 18-49 (+88%), while more than doubling in Adults 25-54 (+103%).
