GHOSTLIGHT To Premiere at the 2018 Queens World Film Festival

Ghostlight - A horror short featuring 8 young actors from the Secret Theatre Academy who are all between the ages of 11 - 13 years old feature in a short film written and directed by Richard Mazda.

The film is the culmination of the first ever project for the film acting class . These talented kids learned how to act for film by making a film.

During the first lesson we all discussed as a group what kind of film 7 young girls and one young man would like to make, it was a unanimous decision to make a horror short. Mindful of the students all being minors I asked how gory or scary and perhaps predictably they all wanted it to be very gory and shocking!

The five girls meet at the diner to discuss how to hold a séance after one of the friends has borrowed a Ouija board from an older friend. The agree to try to break in to a disused, haunted theatre, The Phoenix, believing that it would be perfect atmosphere for a séance. Three vengeful child ghosts haunt the theatre.

The cast features Mia Jacquez as Ginny, Stella Apostalakis-Beaty as Julia, Demetra Kostaridis as Billie, Ailish Long as Caitlyn and Genessa Kahn as Natalie who are the girls who hold the séance with Ani Nikoghoysan as Carrie, Oleg Godun as Jayson and Isabel Kauffmann as Linda the vengeful ghosts.

In our film, which was all shot in three locations - The Secret Theatre, Court Square Diner and Local Project Art Gallery.

Following completion of Ghostlight a second film, 'Waiting for Harry' is nearing completion and a third film 'Calling All Angels' is currently in production.
