The Game of Thrones third season finale was Sunday's top cable program with a 2.9 adults 18-49 rating, up from last week's 2.8.

In the finale titled "Mhysa", Joffrey challenges Tywin, while Bran tells a ghost story. In Dragonstone, mercy comes from strange quarters and Dany waits to see if she is a conqueror or a liberator. The episode was written by David Benioff & D. B. Weiss and directed by David Nutter.

About Game of Thrones - Season 3

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne has begun.

It will stretch from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intriques; to the vast and savage easstern lands; all the way to the frozen north, where an 800-foot wall of ice protects the kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men... all will play the Game of Thrones.
