FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) and StyleHaul, the largest online network for fashion, beauty and lifestyle, today announced they have entered into a multi-series and multi-year development deal. The first series to go into production under the deal, THE CREW, wrapped production last week and is currently in post-production.
Gayle Gilman, EVP, Digital Content, FremantleMedia
North America commented, "Almost overnight StyleHaul has become the largest online network for young women, making them an ideal partner for us as we grow our original digital content business. We're excited to be working with Stephanie Horbaczewski and her team to develop and produce original scripted and unscripted series for such a fast growing and engaged audience."
THE CREW is a 10-episode entertainment talk show series featuring
Youtube sensations Marcus Butler, Alfie Deyes, Jim Chapman and Caspar Lee. Taped in front of a live studio audience, with additional man-on-the-street segments, each show will center on a single topic such as relationships, social media, culture clashes and texting etiquette. The show will premiere on StyleHaul's network in January 2014.
"We are absolutely thrilled to partner with FremantleMedia on this deal. We feel their expertise in producing iconic and record-breaking TV such as
American Idol and America's Got Talent, coupled with their global reach, will help take StyleHaul's content to the next level," said Stephanie Horbaczewski, CEO, StyleHaul. "We are very excited to kick off our partnership with the show THE CREW with Jim, Casper, Marcus and Alfie. The show, which will include a live studio audience, will be a totally new concept for StyleHaul and bring this amazing group of talent a new format for their highly engaged fans."
The development deal between FMNA and StyleHaul represents StyleHaul's first multi-project premium content commitment with a major independent television studio. StyleHaul, the largest online global fashion and video platform, was launched in 2012 and has over 104 million network subscribers and over 2,000 influencer channels in 61 countries. In May 2013, FremantleMedia's parent company RTL Group made a minority investment in StyleHaul to further their strategy to become a leading player in all segments of the rapidly growing online video market - complementing the popular catch-up TV services of RTL Group's TV channels and FremantleMedia's portfolio of more than 100
Youtube channels.
THE CREW is FMNA's first new digital series since CEO Thom Beers launched its digital production business in September with the appointment of Gayle Gilman to the role of Executive
Vice President, Digital Content. The division is also responsible for the fastest-growing pet destination on the internet, The Pet Collective, and is responsible for all FMNA's digital content creation and distribution strategies, for the
North America region.
