Free the Oregon Zoo Elephants Announce Free the Elephants Conference & Film Festival

Free the Oregon Zoo Elephants (FOZE) announces the first Free the Elephants Conference & Film FestivalApril 27 29, 2018 in Portland, OR, USA. This conference and film festival is for anyone who wants to advance the cause of freedom for captive elephants or just wants to learn about the many issues facing elephants today.

Experts in elephant advocacy and welfare from around the world will convene in Portland to discuss whether elephants should be held captive in zoos, for tourism and entertainment and many other burning questions facing the world's largest land mammals, including:

Do elephants have rights?
What is real conservation?
Where should elephants go?
How can human/elephant conflicts be resolved in Asia and Africa?

Elephants face extinction in the wild and boredom, disease and slow and painful deaths in captivity. But signs are pointing to a new way of thinking and treating elephants. Now, on the precipice of change for elephants, this conference is designed to create solutions and help direct the focus on conservation where it belongs, in range countries where elephants live.
