Another comic book adaptation might just be heading to the small screen, in the vein of Joss Whedon's MARVEL'S THE AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.
According to TV Line, FOX has officially ordered a put pilot for THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMAN, with Michael Green (HEROES) as the showrunner. Erwin Stoff (THE MATRIX) will also serve as executive producer.
The project is officially described as "a drama series based on Alan Moore's critically and commercially successful graphic novel series about a group of Victorian-age literary characters, including Captain Nemo, the Invisible Man, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, who team up to fight a common enemy."
A film adaptation of the series starring Sean Connery, Jason Flemyng, Naseeruddin Shah and more was released in 2003 by 20th Century Fox, with plans for a franchise rumored. The film's weak box office showing ultimately ended Fox's long-term plan for the GENTLEMAN.
