Makers of the video game Fortnite are currently dealing with an unusual brand of controversy.

Creators of popular dance moves have brought several lawsuits against Epic, the creators of Fornite, for using their creative property within the game.

Earlier this month rapper 2 Milly brought a lawsuit against Epic, for their use of his signature dance the "Milly Rock."

This was followed by a second lawsuit from actor Alfonso Ribeiro, best known for portraying Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, for their use of his signature dance move, "The Carlton" as a feature in the game.

Russell Horning, better known as "Backpack Kid," has also brought a suit against the company for their use of a dance move popularized by Horning called, "flossing."

According to TheVerge, the complaints allege "copyright infringement and violations of the right of publicity - the personal rights that govern how an individual can control and profit off the use of their own likeness, name, and other identifiable traits."c

Actor Donald Faizon has also expressed displeasure at the appropriation of a dance move he created and performed on the hit TV comedy. Scrubs.

The lawsuits have raised a number of interesting questions regarding legal ownership of dance moves.
