Format Changes and Sara Bareilles Announced for 'The Sing-Off'

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles ("Love Song" and "King of Anything") will join NBC's "The Sing-Off" as the third celebrity judge of the unique vocal a cappella singing competition series with fellow celebrity judges Ben Folds (Ben Folds Five) and Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men). The announcement was made today by Paul Telegdy, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, NBC and Universal Media Studios.

"I love the fact that on this show, the judges are each so rooted in the world they preside over," said Telegdy. "Simply put, they can do what the contestants are doing and that means a lot. Sara will bring a sublime technical knowledge and huge appreciation for 'The Sing-Off ' - she's a fan and we're thrilled she's coming on board."

"The Sing-Off," (Mondays, 8-10 p.m. ET; premiering September 19) hosted by multi-platinum recording artist Nick Lachey, returns for season three this fall in a weekly format with two-hour episodes.
