For Second Week, CBS THIS MORNING Posts Closest Competitive Position to NBC in 22 Years

For the second consecutive week, CBS THIS MORNING has delivered CBS's closest competitive position in the time period to NBC in 22 years, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending June 10.

CBS THIS MORNING was the only network morning news broadcast to post year-to-year gains this week among viewers (+4%, 3.53m from 3.41m), women 25-54 (+11%, 1.0/08 from 0.9/07) and women 18-49 (+17%, 0.7/07 from 0.6/06), compared with a year ago. For the same week, both of CBS THIS MORNING's competitors posted declines. ABC posted year-to-year declines across the board for the week ending June 10: -9% in viewers, -20% in adults 25-54, -16% in women 25-54 and -15% in women 18-49, compared with last year. NBC is also down in key measures: -5% in viewers, -7% in adults 25-54, -16% in women 25-54 and -21% in women 18-49.

CBS THIS MORNING was in its closest competitive position in the time period with NBC (-640,000) since the week ending Dec. 31, 1994, for the second consecutive week. Just three tenths of a ratings point in households separated CBS THIS MORNING from NBC on June 8, which was the smallest gap between the two since Feb. 8, 2016.

Television year-to-date, CBS THIS MORNING is the only network morning broadcast to post increases in viewers (+8%, 3.67m from 3.39m), women 25-54 (+11%, 1.0/07 from 0.9/07) and women 18-49 (+17%, 0.7/06 from 0.6/06) when compared with last year. ABC is down -9% in viewers, -18% in both adults 25-54 and women 25-54 and -20% in women 18-49. NBC is down -3% in viewers, -6% in adults 25-54, -10% in women 25-54 and -7% in women 18-49.

CBS THIS MORNING has delivered year-over-year audience growth for 44 consecutive months while ABC has declined 25 consecutive months and NBC has declined 24 consecutive months. ABC has not experienced year-over-year monthly gains since April 2014, and NBC has not posted gains since May 2014.
