Additionally, the site attracted 9.5 million unique visitors last month - the second highest total in its history - and received over 89 million page views, a 523 percent increase compared to last year, according to comScore.
FiveThirtyEight's podcasts have also experienced significant growth last month: FiveThirtyEight Elections attracted 7.8 million downloads - a boost of 422 percent from its launch in February. Meanwhile, What's the Point saw 1.6 million downloads, up 551 percent compared to a year ago, while Hot Takedown had 1 million downloads, an increase of 798 percent since last year.
"Our election forecasts, features, chats and podcasts have been enormously popular this year, thanks to the volatile campaign and the great work of our political team." said David Firestone, managing editor. "But we're also delighted that many of the people coming for politics are also checking out our data-focused work on sports, science, economics, and culture."
FiveThirtyEight's Election Forecast was the most popular piece of individual content across all of ESPN's web properties for the month of August. The average viewer visited the forecast approximately four times throughout the month, viewing an average of nine pages and spending approximately nine minutes on the site over the month.
