Continuing its annual tradition of a trip to the United Kingdom, NBC Sports Group's U.S.-based Premier League team will open the season on the road, as the entire announce team works together on-location in the U.K. for kickoff of the 2018-19 Premier League season, August 9-12. Immersive Premier League coverage will be presented on-site from the U.K. across the season's opening three days from four different grounds, featuring on-site studios for pre-match, halftime and post-game shows as well as pitch-side locations just a few feet from the playing field.
Coverage begins this Thursday, August 9, with a special three-hour Premier League Live: Transfer Deadline Day show live from Old Trafford at 11 a.m. ET on NBCSN.
New Season, Newly PROMOTED Teams: Cardiff City
First match: Bournemouth v. Cardiff City, Sat., August 11, 10 a.m. ET
Cardiff City earned automatic promotion to the 2018-19 Premier League by finishing in 2nd place in the Championship last season. They finished two points above 3rd-place Fulham, and did not clinch automatic promotion until the final day of the season. This will be Cardiff's second-ever season in the Premier League, having finished in last place in 2013-14. Cardiff will be the only Welsh team in the Premier League this season, as their rivals Swansea City were relegated to the Championship last season. Known as "the Bluebirds," Cardiff City have won only one major trophy in their history, lifting the FA Cup in 1927. To date, Cardiff are the only non-English side to win the FA Cup.
