Filming has begun in central Oklahoma for the screen adaptation of THE SCENT OF RAIN AND LIGHTNING, based on the book by Nancy Pickard, starring Maika Monroe, Maggie Grace and Brad Carter.

Produced by Casey Twenter, Jeff Robison and Jeff Johnson of No Coast Entertainment, Kevin Waller of Gerson Productions, Michael Davis, Maggie Grace and executive producers Dan Koetting and Carolyn Paul, the film focuses on a young woman who learns her parents' killer has recently been released from jail, forcing her to revisit old wounds, realizing the destructive power of hate and the true cost of family secrets.

Shooting on the film will take place in Guthrie, Oklahoma and Okarche, Oklahoma.

New additions to the cast include: Logan Miller, who recently appeared in "The Stanford Prison Experiment" and will star in the upcoming "Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse," Mark Webber, from the films "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" and "Laggies," Will Patton, star of "Remember the Titans" and the TNT television series "Falling Skies," Bonnie Bedelia, of "Die Hard" fame and the NBC drama series "Parenthood," Justin Chatwin, who rose to fame playing the son of Tom Cruise in Steven Spielberg's "The War of the Worlds" and who currently stars in Showtime's "Shameless," and Aaron Poole, who appeared in "The Samaritan."

As producers and screenwriters, Robison and Twenter are best known for "Rudderless, the 2014 Sundance Film Festival closing night feature that was sold to Paramount and Samuel Goldwyn Co. for theatrical and home distribution.

THE SCENT OF RAIN AND LIGHTNING is directed by Blake Robbins, a 20-year acting veteran whose first directorial effort THE SUBLIME AND BEAUTIFUL debuted at the Slamdance Film Festival.

The film takes advantage of Oklahoma's Film Enhancement Rebate, which offers a cash rebate of 35 to 37 percent on qualifying Oklahoma expenditures to film and television productions filming in the state.
