Clay Epstein's Film Mode Entertainment announces Grindstone Entertainment Group's acquisition of Yale Productions' new crime-thriller, CRYPTO. Film Mode Entertainment will also be presenting first-look footage for buyers at AFM.

Beau Knapp (Seven Seconds, The Nice Guys), Alexis Bledel (The Handmaid's Tale, Gilmore Girls), Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight), Luke Hemsworth (Westworld), Jeremie Harris (Legion) and Vincent Kartheiser (Mad Men) lead the cast of CRYPTO. The film is directed by John Stalberg, Jr., written by Carlyle Eubank and David Frigerio based on an original story by Jeffrey Ingber, and produced by Yale Productions' Jordan Yale Levine and Jordan Beckerman, along with David Frigerio.

GRINDSTONE ENTERTAINMENT'S Stan Wertlieb commented, "John Stalberg's CRYPTO is a powerful and timely thriller. The talented cast led by Beau Knapp, Alexis Bledel, and Kurt Russell, vividly bring to life the intriguing and mysterious world of cryptocurrency and international banking espionage. Audiences will be on the edge of their seats from start to finish."

Equal parts The Firm-style financial thriller and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo-type crime drama, CRYPTO follows a young anti-money laundering agent named Martin (Beau Knapp) tasked with investigating a tangled web of corruption and fraud in his remote New York hometown, where his father Martin Sr (Kurt Russell) and brother Caleb (Luke Hemswoth) are struggling to maintain their family farm in a changing economic landscape. Martin quickly finds himself enmeshed in a dangerous underworld populated by Katie (Alexis Bledel), an art dealer with mysterious intentions, Earl (Jeremie Harris), a crypto-currency enthusiast turned cyber-sleuth, and Ted (Vincent Kartheiser), a corrupt accountant doing the bidding of ruthless clients.

Clay Epstein of Film Mode Entertainment said, "We are thrilled to be working with the outstanding team at Grindstone. Barry, Stan and Ryan have a unique eye for quality and commercially driven films that audiences are craving. Their promotion and release is going to increase the awareness of the film even wider."

The deal was negotiated between Clay Epstein of Film Mode Entertainment and Stan Wertlieb and Ryan Black of Grindstone.

Producers Jordan Yale Levine and Jordan Beckerman commented, "John has done a wonderful job creating a stylish film that's both exciting and thought-provoking. We're so thrilled to partner with Grindstone to bring his vision to audiences across the country."

The film marks the sophomore feature for director John Stalberg, Jr, whose debut High School starring Adrien Brody and Colin Hanks premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and quickly gained a cult following upon its theatrical release. Carlyle Eubank and David Frigerio previously collaborated as co-writers of the acclaimed sci-fi thriller The Signal, in which Beau Knapp also starred. The film premiered at Sundance and was distributed theatrically by Focus Features.

Beau Knapp currently stars in Netflix's acclaimed series Seven Seconds and is also well known for his roles in The Nice Guys with Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe and The Signal with Laurence Fishbourne.
