Fathom Events to Brings CYRANO DE BERGERAC From Comédie-Française to U.S. Cinemas Image

For the first time ever, the French play "Cyrano de Bergerac" from the Comédie-Française, comes to movie theaters across the U.S. for a special one-night event. The Comédie-Française is the most prestigious Parisian stage and American audiences will get to experience the most emblematic piece of the French repertoire and enjoy this romantic comedy in a larger-than-life-setting on the big screen.

During the event, intermissions will feature exclusive interviews with Denis Podalydès, actors Michel Vuillermoz and Françoise Gillard (Cyrano and Roxane), scenographer and general director of the Comédie-Française Éric Ruf and prop master Balthazar.

Tickets for "Cyrano de Bergerac" can be purchased at www.FathomEvents.com and participating theater box offices.

Fathom Events and Pathé Live present "Cyrano de Bergerac" in more than 300 select movie theaters on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. local time, through Fathom's Digital Broadcast Network (DBN). For a complete list of theater locations, visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

In "Cyrano de Bergerac," Cyrano is cursed with a prominent nose but gifted with words. He uses this talent to help the handsome Christian win Roxane's heart, whom he also loves. However, Cyrano may be too ugly to be loved.

Staged by famous actor and director Denis Podalydès with costumes designed by world-renowned Christian Lacroix, "Cyrano de Bergerac" has been the biggest hit of the Comédie-Française and the most attended play in Paris for the entirety of its 10-year run. This award-wining production (6 Molière theatre prizes) is no longer staged in Paris, making this cinema event the only opportunity for theatre-lovers to see it.

"It is an exciting opportunity to partner with Pathé Live and bring this beloved production from its home in Paris to local movie theaters across the U.S.," Fathom Events CEO Ray Nutt said. "Audiences will get to experience this play in a unique way that allows everyone to have a front row seat and view this content in a way that preserves and highlights the creators' vision."

"We are very excited to team up with Fathom Events to share this jewel of our repertoire. This is the first time a French play will get such an exposure in the U.S., as much as some of the biggest French feature film releases," Pathé Live CEO Thierry Fontaine said. "We could not be more proud to contribute to bringing more diversity to American audiences for a memorable theatrical experience."

"We are very proud to meet American audiences in the whole country with this production of our great Repertoire," said Éric Ruf, General Director of the Comédie-Française.
