In the wake the highly successful Facebook campaign to get Betty White to host Saturday Night Live, fans have created a new Facebook campaign for Carol Burnett to host the legendary sketch comedy show.

The Facebook Page was created on April 27 and already has over 55,000 fans. The page's description reads "This site is to encourage Saturday Night Live and Carol Burnett that Carol would be an OUTSTANDING choice to host SNL. Icing on the cake would be a cameo appearance by TIM CONWAY! What a way to honor this timeless comedienne. She has made us laugh with her timeless Comedy skits and sketches with her expressive face for many many years."

Betty White hosted Saturday Nigh Live for the first time in her career on May 8, after a Facebook page accumulated over half a million fans calling for her to host. Several other Facebook pages have been created with similar ideas in mind, pages like 'Betty White to Host the Academy Awards' which has just under 50,000 fans and 'Sutton and Hunter Foster to host Tonys 2010' which has 37 fans. Not to mention the numerous pages calling for guest stars on GLEE. The Glee Pages advocate for stars such as Sutton Foster, Carol Channing, Bette Midler, Lea Salonga, Miranda Sings and even Betty White to guest on the hit musical dramedy.

Burnett started her career in New York. After becoming a hit on Broadway, she debuted on television. After successful appearances on The Garry Moore Show, Carol moved to Los Angeles and began an eleven-year run on the The Carol Burnett Show which was aired on CBS television from 1967 to 1978. With roots in vaudeville, The Carol Burnett Show was a variety show combining comedy sketches, song, and dance. The comedy sketches ranged from movie parodies to character pieces which featured the many talents of Burnett herself who created and played several well-known and distinctive characters.
