Fanhattan, a discovery service for movies and TV shows, is coming to the Web. Fanhattan on the Web combines a comprehensive index of over 1,000,000 titles with a guide to where more than 150,000 titles are available to watch across 29 integrated services. The company is also launching an entertainment blog called Fanhattan Voicealong with a personal list sharing feature on both the new beta site and existing iOS app, so you can discover, watch and share all your favorite entertainment in one place.
"Our team has always had a singular goal: to make the process of finding movies and shows as simple and entertaining as watching them," said Gilles BianRosa, CEO of Fanhattan. "We started with our iOS app and are continuing to move into more of the screens you love with today's Web launch just in time for the Academy Awards."
With Fanhattan's service, consumers can now go to one place to discover what to watch - versus visiting as many as five separate sites and services before watching. Fanhattan has expanded from 16 providers on the iOS app to 29 providers on the web, with nearly three times more free shows and videos available to watch on the web than on iOS. Integrated entertainment services in Fanhattan on the Web include subscription-based streaming providers; free, ad-supported sites like those belonging to major television networks and transactional sites that let you buy or rent individual shows and movies to watch in your browser.
"More than 100 million people in the U.S. watch online video in an average day. But figuring out what to watch (and where it's on) can take the fun out of Friday night before it's even started," Gilles continued.
On Fanhattan you can search by title, actor or director to find out what's available to WatchNow across the web or save shows and movies to your WatchList to get an alert when they become available. So while you watch The Academy Awards you can add movies you've missed to your WatchList, share your love for celebrities on the red carpet and build your own list of Oscar picks. You can also check out the last 84 years of Best Picture winners here.
If you're looking for ideas of what to watch, there are several ways to discover new movies and shows in Fanhattan. Fanhattan Voice, the company's entertainment magazine, presents the latest news, celebrity interviews, reviews, box office takes, opinions, commentary, and trends to satiate your Curiosity and spark your imagination. Starting today on both web and iOS, you can also create, name and share your own personal Fanhattan lists. Plus, if you log in with Facebook, you can check out what your friends have seen, liked or added to their lists.
