According to The Hollywood Reporter, FX Productions CEO John Landgraf announced yesterday that the network has canceled Russell Brand's BRAND X from their line-up. The unscripted late night series featured Brand's unvarnished, unfiltered take on current events, politics and pop culture. The show, shot in front of a live audience, drew heavily on interaction from the crowd.
However, Landgraf also revealed that a pilot pickup for a "scripted live-action comedy" featuring Brand is currently "in the works."
The network exec compared the new project to HBO's 'Curb Your Enthusiasm', explaining that it would be loosely based on the comic's own life. Currently the project, which is in the earliest stages of development, does not have a writer attached to it.Videos
