Deadline writes that Universal Pictures has GONE into development on the action flick DESERT EAGLE as a vehicle for FURIOUS 7's Tyrese Gibson.

DESERT EAGLE centers on "a pair of border patrol agents investigating a drug cartel being operated out of a Native American reservation casino."
Gibson originally wrote the script with Mike Le; Matthew Stuecken and Josh Campbell are penning a second draft. Scott Stuber is producing via Bluegrass Films, with Gibson executive producing through Voltron Filmz.
Gibson last appeared in FAST & FURIOUS 6 and BLACK NATIVITY. He will soon be seen on the big screen in FURIOUS 7, SOUTHPAW and RIDE ALONG 2. The singer-actor's final album, BLACK ROSE, will be out on May 5.
