Allison Schroeder, who wrote the screenplay to HIDDEN FIGURES, is joining the writing team for FROZEN 2, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jennifer Lee still remains the primary writer on the film, but Schroeder will assist with scripting duties for the sequel.
This news comes because in June, Lee was named the head of Walt Disney Animation Studios, succeeding John Lasseter, who was forced to step down at Walt Disney Animation and at Pixar Studios after admitting to unspecified "missteps" in the workplace.
Schroeder returns to Disney after working with them on their recent release, CHRISTOPHER ROBIN.
FROZEN 2 is currently in production, and the sequel will see Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad return. Lee directing the film with Chris Buck and Peter Del Vecho is producing.
2013's FROZEN grossed over $1 billion at the global box office and became a cultural phenomenon, which included it being brought to Broadway this year.
There is no known plot for the film, but FROZEN 2 is set to be released on November 27, 2019.
