FOX NEWS channel (FNC) delivered the most-watched cable television coverage of the grand jury ruling on whether Officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, MO would stand trial Tuesday night averaging 7.3 million viewers during the 9PM/ET hour when the verdict was announced.
Additionally, FNC averaged the most total viewers during primetime coverage (8-11PM ET) with 5.6 million viewers, compared to CNN's 5.1 million and MSNBC's 1.6 million. With extended live coverage of the verdict, 7PM-1AM/ET, FNC once again dominated with 4.39 million, vs. CNN's 4.36 million and MSNBC's 1.30 million.
Below are the Nielsen ratings for the 9PM/ET hour, as well as for primetime 8-11PM/ET and extended live coverage 7PM/ET-1AM ET. FNC delivered its second highest night in primetime since the new lineup debuted on October 17, 2013 behind only the midterm elections.
