FINDING NEVERLAND's Harvey Weinstein Comments on Astaire Award: 'We Need Guys Like Me on Broadway'

Joel Grey was among the esteemed honorees at last night's Astaire Awards, but according to Showbiz411 Roger Friedman, it was Finding Neverland producer and award recipient Harvey Weinstein who had plenty to say in his own acceptance speech.

Upon receiving his award at last night's event held at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, Weinstein pointed out that although his new Broadway musical was snubbed from this year's Tony nominations, it continues to make over $1 million a week. According to Friedman, Weinstein's statement that, "We need guys like me on Broadway," was followed by strong applause from the crowd.

Grey was presented with his Lifetime Achievement award by his daughter, Jennifer Grey. Friedman reports that the younger Grey "could barely read her speech or one sent by Sutton Foster (in bed with bronchitis) because she teared up watching Joel's amazing clips."

"I didn't expect to feel like that," Jennifer told the packed house. "I feel like Liza [Minnelli], all gaspy and stuff!" [PEOPLE]

Other winners included a tie between Robert Fairchild and Tony Yazbeck for Best Male Dancer, and a tie between Christopher Wheeldon and Joshua Bergasse for best Choreographer.
