FAST & FURIOUS 6 Opens at No. 1 in China; Races Toward $24M Weekend

Deadline reports that FAST & FURIOUS 6 opened at No. 1 in China on Friday, July 26, and is racing toward $24 million for the weekend.

That total would bring the movie just behind MAN OF STEEL as China's second highest three-day gross ever. The pic also brought in Universal Pictures' highest ever opening in China with $6.9 million on Friday.

By the end of today, FAST & FURIOUS 6's international numbers should reach $485 million, easily heading for over $500 million by Sunday. After this weekend, the movie's domestic gross should hit an estimated $238 million, bringing its global takings to around $741 million.

FAST & FURIOUS 6 opened in theaters on May 24th. The action thriller stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Elsa Pataky, Luke Evans and Gina Carano.

Building on the worldwide blockbuster success of Fast Five and taking the action, stunts and narrative to even greater heights, Fast & Furious 6 sees director Justin Lin back behind the camera for the fourth time. He is supported by longtime producers Neal H. Moritz and Vin Diesel, who welcome producer Clayton Townsend back to the series.
