Actress Erin Darke (Dietland, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) has been cast as the lead in the pilot of IT'S A MAN'S WORLD (working title) for Youtube Premium.
The pilot will be directed by Romeo Tirone, who was most recently the producer/director on Amazon's The Tick and concurrently the producer/director for NBC's Taken.
The pilot was written by Theresa Rebeck (Smash) and is produced by Assembly Entertainment in association with ITV Studios America (the LA-based U.S. independent scripted television studio operation of ITV Studios, a world leader in television production and distribution).
Rebeck, Tirone, and Assembly Entertainment CEO Christina Wayne (I'm Dying Up Here) are executive producers of the pilot.
The story centers around Emma (Darke), a successful video game design executive and the sole breadwinner for her family, who is used to dodging the landmines that come with being a woman in a male-dominated field. When she gets fired without explanation and finds that she's being blacklisted by everyone in her industry, Emma decides to dress as a man to get a new job and to continue supporting her family. As strange and politically incorrect as Emma's new life may be, she starts to enjoy the newfound ease of access and power that comes with being a man.
Production began February 25 in New York.
Rebeck is represented by ICM Partners and Dan Halsted (Manage-ment). Darke is represented by Greenlight Management and ICM Partners. Tirone is represented by WME.
