Eminem joins the musical guest lineup of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' when the show returns to Brooklyn, MONDAY, OCT. 15. From atop the iconic EMPIRE State Building, the rapper will ascend 103 floors - over 1,300 feet - to give a special remote performance that will transform the New York City skyline.
Eminem's performance of his title track from the Marvel film "Venom" will be set aglow by a first-of-its kind light show mapped to the EMPIRE State Building using custom algorithms, created by lighting artist-in-residence Marc Brickman and his Tactical Manoeuvre Inc. team.
Much of Eminem's performance will be captured using Google's new Pixel 3 smartphone, allowing award-winning director James Larese to capture unique angles on the scene that wouldn't be possible with traditional cameras. The Pixel 3's 4K recording and Fused Video Stabilization will be applied for smooth and high-quality video. As a means to bring fans a unique introspective into how the video came to life, a behind-the-scenes video captured entirely on Pixel 3, will be released TUESDAY, OCT. 16, and available at youtube.com/JimmyKimmelLive.
"As a director, I enjoy experimenting with textures, mediums and formats, especially when working with artists like Eminem. I was blown away by the Google Pixel 3 phone - its image quality and professional finish is impressive, and I'm looking forward to giving fans something special," said James Larese.
"The EMPIRE State Building, the World's Most Famous Building, and the combination of our cutting-edge lighting technology and art deco architecture create the world's most amazing stage for this gift from Eminem, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and Google," commented Anthony E. Malkin, CEO, EMPIRE State Realty Trust.
"As we prepared to head back to Brooklyn for this year's show, we knew it had to be epic. The EMPIRE State Building is a cultural phenomenon and a huge part of New York's history. We're thankful to the EMPIRE State Building, Google and Eminem for giving fans an extraordinary experience," added Doug DeLuca, co-executive producer, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
