A BUFFY alum may be headed to HOW I MET YOUR DAD.
Eliza Dushku, who also starred in Joss Whedon's short-lived series DOLLHOUSE, announced on Twitter today that she's currently reading the script for the HIMYM spin-off pilot from Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, and Emily Spivey (Up All Night). Greta Gerwig has already signed on to play the project's lead, 'Sally,' described as a "female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she's going in life." She's thinking of calling it quits with her husband of a year, Gavin. She'll lean on her circle of friends for advice and support through the inevitable divorce."
Dushku tweeted: "Ok. Now to put down iphone aka #Kiev #Venezuela tracking device & pick up "How I Met Your Dad" pilot script to read. #spinoff #channelchange"
When the Whedonverse fans latched onto the news, she followed her first tweet up with a second, saying: "#Reading the pilot, folks. No announcement, just a first date- perhaps this weekend. #HowIMetYourDad. It IS kinda #badass #justsayin"
Dushku is presumably in consideration for the only other female lead, that of Sally's best friend, Juliet, a "sexy, flamboyant, energetic, party-girl...She runs a successful fashion blog. She's delighted to learn Sally is ending things with the terminally boring Gavin."
Besides Whedon's BUFFY and DOLLHOUSE, Dushku has appeared on ANGEL and TRU CALLING, and been featured in such films as TRUE LIES, THE NEW GUY, BRING IT ON, WRONG TURN, and JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK.
